Course Description

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of climatology, agro-meteorology, biogeography, and climate change, with emphasis on relationships between climate, agriculture, ecosystems, and biodiversity. The course integrates remote sensing and Google Earth Engine (GEE) for spatial analysis of climate and vegetation, using Nigeria—particularly the Niger Delta—as the primary case study. Students gain both theoretical understanding and practical skills for climate analysis, agricultural applications, and climate change adaptation.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

  2. Describe relationships between climate, hydrology, biogeography, and agriculture.
